RUD's Grip chains are perfect for occasional UK use or to take on the family skiing holiday. They're quick and easy to fit, and there's no need to move the car when fitting. The top left picture shows both the outside of the wheel (left) and the inside of the wheel (right), and the smart new grey and orange colouring. Other features:
- 4mm chrome-manganese fine-grained alloy steel chain – wedge-shaped for better grip
- Reversible chain mesh for a long lifetime, but even so you should avoid grinding them down on the tarmac!
- Supplied in a strong zipped ballistic nylon bag which much easier to use than a plastic case, and you can kneel on it when fitting the chains
These are still our best selling chains - click here to see a demonstration of how to fit them (old colours shown).
Almost all competitor chains are similar to the Grip, although many of these are "9mm chains", i.e. with 9mm long links and made from chain which is only 3mm thick.
If you want to trade up a level we recommend the easy2go chains which are not much more expensive but have many additional features and benefits:- ‘Cross grip’ links – the chains are slower to make, but much stronger
- they are continuously re-tensioned thanks to a "Permanent Tensioning Device"
- the integrated wheel rim protection prevents damage to alloy wheels
Click Back a page to choose the easy2go.
If you are concerned about damage to alloy wheels then have a look at RUD's protectAR wheel protectors, shown in the bottom left picture. Click on the link below for more information - but buying the easy2go chains will be the more sensible option.
Why choose RUD? Simple - they're reckoned to be the best. But don't just take our word for it; RUD are official suppliers to Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Landrover, Mercedes, Saab, Volvo, and VW, amongst others, and also supply the British Army - ample evidence that their snow chains are as good as they come.
