Kantenspur chains are RUD's strongest standard chains - designed to cope with ice, snow, rocks, mud, brushwood, i.e. real cross country driving in almost any conditions, summer or winter, where an element of tyre protection is required as well as better traction.
They'll appeal to people who appreciate the high performance and quick fit 'automatic' technology, and don't mind paying for the best.
The sprung steel hoop is joined together with a patented pulley system - you can read more about this on the 'Classic automatic' page, and also see a short movie of a Classic automatic being fitted.
- The most visible differences between the Kantenspur and the Classic automatic are (1) the additional perpendicular "grip links" which provide better traction, better braking and better tracking, (i.e. the vehicle has about the best possible chance of staying in the direction you point it in!) and (2) the unusual chain pattern which is said to produce quieter running.
- Kantenspurs are made of fine-grain alloy steels and, like most of RUD's chains, have a reversible chain mesh so that as the links on one side become worn you can fit them 'inside out' and extend their lifespan.
- They're supplied in a smart strong zipped waterproof ballistic nylon carrying case 50 x 50 x 4cm
Our advice and experience is that chains of this calibre and price are unnecessary more most users - if you want to trade up market then the DISC chain is as far as most people go.
Why choose RUD at all? They're official suppliers to Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Landrover, Mercedes, Saab, Volvo, and VW, amongst others, and also supply the British Army - ample evidence that their snow chains are as good as they come.
